When hearing about a crime that has been committed, individuals do not tend to think about spending time with that criminal. This is on account of the individual portrayed as a criminal, one who has the mentality of perpetrating a rough offense. Regardless the age of the criminal, he or she in any case would be an unappealing party to those that are â€Å"model citizens.† Felony crime is characterized by the Department of Justice as â€Å"crime, assault, burglary, and attack† (Legal Dictionary). According to the Uniform Crime Report, property crime is number one of the crimes committed by persons under the age of 18. Property crime is also high in numbers for children age 15 and under. Although juveniles arrested for violent crimes have decreased from 2013 to 2014 by 3.8 percent, these crimes are still being committed (Uniform Crime Report, 2014). It is of society’s declaration that any individual who perpetrates a felony crime needs to be arraigned the same way, consequently that minors must be indicted as adults. What is left unsaid is that these same minors have certain reasons as to why they act in the manner that they do. The purpose of this paper is to justify as to why juvenile offenders should only be tried as adults in acts of murder. After going through the several leadership development programs that I could lay my hands on, I felt the one organized by the Venetian is the best. What caught my fancy was the level of organization of the company. I also find the program appealing because of the fact that I will be able to get world class jobs with the affiliates of the company after the program. Naturally this ninety year old man looked absurd—wearing a paper hat at a college graduation—but Paula felt reassured, knowing he was safe from the sun. Seeing a large potion of the crowd wearing paper hats made me more comfortable; I was able to sit back and watch the absurdity while sharing a few laughs with fellow strangers. Most of the people giggled at how ridiculous they felt, but my thoughts were focused on Paula. One individual, 2000 followers. What Paula indirectly taught me was how one person can make a difference. She wasn’t trying to create a revolution, only to protect her father from the sun. This kept them better protected from the sun as well as creating a comical, makeshift community between all of us participants. She is the kind of individual I hope to become. My ideal careers are either teaching or something in the field of psychology. I have always wanted to be the type of person to have a positive impact on many lives around me, which is why those are my two principle career choices. If I open myself up to new experiences, as the adults did to those hats, then I will be able to help others and make a difference by simply taking a risk, just as Paula did. As much as I always knew a single person could make a difference, this experience helped me clearly visualize the immense impact on e person can have.
